• Canoeing “Kalu ganga” could be done as a half day option or over night
option with 1 night or two nights stay in camps.
• Clients could decide the option that they want to take based on the fitness
level and the time that they can spend for this programme.
• If the clients select one night option, either we could do the full run up to
Kaluthara in two days [ if the clients are fit enough !] or finish canoeing half
way through the second day and get in to the vehicle and do the balance journey.
• This option need to be stipulated at the time of reservation.
Ratnapura – Kurugam Modara
Drive from Colombo Negambo or Kalutr to Ratnapura main Bridge arrive around 9.30 a.m.
Start the Canoeing expedition from Ratnapura Main Brigde around 10.00am.after an orientation.
This section is comparatively easy and do not require any special canoeing skills. Along the route you will be able to see many vegetation types / changing landscapes. Just passing populated “Rathanapura” town area, riverbank environment becomes more scenic and quite with lonely sand collectors’ houses surrounded by thick vegetation and palm trees! During most of the ride only noises you are going to hear are the birds’ calls and the sound that will make by your paddle.
You
will provide packed lunch after finishing the caneing at the end point.
You will end up the tour at ‘Kurugam Modara ’ . ( 15 Km – Approx. 2 hours ride)
Your car will meet at the end point to pick you up and drive you back to Colombo or Negambo

Day 01 - Rathanpura - Kiriella (FB)
Meet our team at Ratnapura Saman Devala at 9.00 a.m.
Participate for the ‘ Puja’ at Saman Devala.
Saman Devala is an important shrine for Budhists. It is a shrine devoted to Saman, a Buddhist deity who is regarded as the guardian of Ratnapura.
We will be doing an orientation.
Start the canoeing expedition by ‘ Saman Devalaya’ which 3kms away from the Ratnapura main Bridge after an orientation.
We will be starting this canoe/raft ride ,from “Rathnapura”- known for its gems, and end up the first day run at a place named “Kiriella”.
This section is comparatively easy and do not require any special canoeing skills. Along the route you will be able to see many vegetation types / changing landscapes. 02 - Kirilla – Ingiriya- Departure Leaving Kiriella after breakfast.
From here the adventure starts to buildup and you may need some previous canoeing experience to negotiate this section of the river. River bends will make the water flow rough and your canoe also will be bit shaky and unsteady.
[Reminder -We will be doing an orientation for those who do not have previous canoeing experience]
You will provide packed lunch after finishing the caneing at the end point. You will meet up with your transfer van and be transferred to Colombo or Negambo

Day 03 - Angruwathota to Kaluthara
After breakfast start the canoeing tour from Anguruwatota to Kaluthara.
Early in the morning after breakfast you will start the last section of the trip
till you come to one of the most sacred places of worship of Sri lanka –
Kuluthara.[Just by the ocean]
From the start to the end river is constant in speed (~4-5km/h) without any
rapids. [Estimated finishing time 12.30pm]
Packed lunch will be provided at a suitable place.
