The Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport is the new airport in south of Sri Lanka near the city of Hambentota. The airport is brainchild of His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and is built as an unique eco-project, is set to transform the fast changing Southern and Eastern regions of the Sri Lanka.
Strategically located to connect to over 60 per cent of the world within eight hours MRIA will be the first airport in Sri Lanka to have A380 flight facilities. The new state of the art airport also boasts a vast 12,000 square-meter international terminal building as well as a 1 million square foot duty free.

This is a unique tour that is offered by Travel & Culture Services only. We will pick you up from Airport ot from any hotel in Hambentota. We will first take you to the the bus station and clocktower of Hambantota, we will explore the area on foor and continue to the the harbor view spectacular view of the Hambantota harbor can be witnessed here. We will later drive you along the coast to the grand, saw-tooth hills around Kataragama you will have a beautiful views from here We will stop at the Bantota beach to let you touch the water.
Our last stop will be Catholic Cemetery which has few colonial memorials, including one poignant monument to the George McKerrow Clark, Irrigation Engineer, aged 33, and Edward Russell Ayrton, Archaeological Commissioner, aged 32, who drowned on May 18,1914, in TissaTank "under circumstances tending to shew that each gave his life in an attempt to save the other" - a touching memento.
In case of hotel pick up now we will also take you to the Bundala National Park which has several wetlands where you can see some of the Sri Lanka's birds and take pictures. We will drop you back to the hotel after spending some time at the park

We will pick up you from the hotel in Hambantota and drive you to Kararagama our first visit will be the Maha Dev tempale, which supposedly contains the lance of the six-faced, 12-armed Hindu war god, Murugan (Skanda), who is seen as identical to the Kataragama Deviyo. The Kirivehara and Sivam Kovil shrines are dedicated to the Buddha and Ganesh (the remover of obstacles and champion of intellectual pursuits) respectively; you will also see the interesting bodhi tree here. We will visit the The Muslim area, close to the entrance, features a beautiful small mosque with coloured tilework and wooden lintels, and tombs of two holy men.
We will visit the archaeological museum which has a collection of Hindu and Buddhist religious items, as well as huge fibre glass models of statues from around Sri Lanka. A small museum has a display of Buddhist statues.
