The ancient technical texts such as Rupavali and Manjusri-Citrakarmasastra indicate that Teo measurement systems have been used by sculptors in making Buddha images, namely, Navatala system and Uttama Dasatala system. Apparently the Buddha images of Anuradhapura and Pollonnarua period followed the Navatala system
Caturmana system indicates that in Navatala images
1. The height between the hair-line and feet
2. the diagonal between the right shoulder and the left knee
3. the diagonal between the left shoulder and the right Knee
4. the horizontal line between the two lines are all of the same measurements
